My Year of Darwin 4/5//2014:Darwin and the giant oyster

 Charles Darwin
"The geology of Patagonia is interesting. Differently from Europe, where the teriary formations appear to have accumulated in bays, here along hundreds of miles of coast we have one great deposit, including many tertiary shells, all apparently extinct. The most common shell is a massive gigantic oyster, sometimes even a foot in diameter" -Charles Darwin, Voyage of the Beagle

I'll take a dozen.

Day 1 of 2 of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station.
