My Year of Darwin 5/3/2014: Barking birds

 Charles Darwin

"An allied species, but rather larger, is called by the natives "Guid-guid" (Pteroptochos Tarnii), and by the English the barking-bird. This latter name is well given; for I defy any one at first to feel certain that a small dog is not yelping somewhere in the forest."  Charles Darwin,Voyage of the Beagle

The Black-throated Huet-huet is found throughout the southern west coast of South America. The call is found on xeno-canto, one of my favorite websites.
