My Year of Darwin 5/9/2014: At least there are no fleas

 Charles Darwin

"I enjoyed my night's rest here from a reason which will not be fully appreciated in England, namely the absence of fleas! The rooms in Coquimbo swarm with them; but they will not live here at the height of only three or four thousand feet: it can scarcely be the trifling dimunition of temperature, but some other cause which destroys these troublesome insects at this place."

Here we are in Chile, and the narrative has been about the poverty of the miners (and how the English are seen as blasphemers and pirates).

Mostly done with grading. A few more labs to do and I'm done!  Completely sleepy though. Should hear about NSF any moment.
