Wilkes Campus Tree Swallows

Tree Swallows are common birds in our area but do not have too many nesting opportunities within Wilkes-Barre city limits. A box made of composite timber was used last year and looks like it going to be used in 2014. Yay!

Of course, the plan is to tear down the garden and put in a giant walkway. So this might be it for our tree swallows. We'll see. But I'll follow this pair for now.

Here's the box last week. No evidence of use even though the pair was defending it.

Here's the box this morning. She was inside and flew to the ground(!). They're building the nest. Exciting stuff!
