Summer research week 2

MONDAY- getting organized. Students submitting paperwork. Lab discussion of what invertebrates we should barcode for understanding diversity or should be sent off for isotope analysis (for food webs) or both.

TUESDAY - training day at the house catching birds. Actually a nice morning with five house sparrows and a morning dove. Blood samples from three birds and one escape (that's why we practice).

WEDNESDAY -  More bird catching with more students at the house. A nice day but kind of slow with low diversity (house sparrows and house finches)

THURSDAY - By students request, we went to Kirby Park for more training. It was a great idea. Captured a female American Redstart, Downy Woodpecker, Eastern Tufted Titmouse, and a couple Gray Catbirds.

FRIDAY - off!
