"My chief enjoyment and sole employment throughout life has been scientific work; and the excitement from such work work makes me for the time forget, or dives quite away, my daily discomfort. I have therefore nothing to record during the rest of my life, except the publication of my several books." Charles Darwin, Autobiography
Left out his children so far and 65% done with the Autobiography so I find this a bit odd. I know he was a family man so I'll assume he'll get to it. But the tone of humility is almost comical.
