There's snow on the ground, driving is slow, it's cold and this weekend: more snow. Time to distract myself with thoughts of spring. Here's a picture of a Pileated Woodpecker I took last summer. This crow-sized bird is one of my favorites in the area. I remember handling one of them in Louisiana and their feet are incredibly strong. So would yours if you had to grip the sides of trees.
