Beyond the health angle, why should the consumption of dogs (or cats or horses for that matter) be considered any more or less sad than the consumption of cattle, goats, pigs, or sheep?
It's just been my experience that dogs form friendships with humans more than cattle. I'd prefer not to meat at all though.
