My Year of Darwin 9/1/2014:Darwin, Jedi master

 Charles Darwin

"What wretched doings come from the ardor of fame, the love of truth alone would never make one man attack another bitterly."  Charles Darwin, letter to J. D. Hooker, May 1848

Darwin is speaking about Richard Owen, famous for giving us the word dinosaur and opposing evolution. Owen publicly humiliated a fellow natural historian in public. Origin would not be out for another 8 years but we see some contempt for Owen already.

I wish I could follow this more closely but when I read Facebook posts by anti-vaxers, Food Babe's mindless followers and their ilk... blood boils.
