My Year of Darwin 9/16/2014: Darwin's spot on prediction

 Charles Darwin

"The time will come I believe, though I shall not live to see it, when we shall have very fairly true genealogical trees of each great kingdom of nature."  Charles Darwin, Letter to T. H. Huxley, September 1857

It took (1) the discovery of DNA as the molecule of inheritance, (2) the development of PCR (to create enough DNA to work with), (3) sequencing methods, (4) modern rules of cladistics (so we know how to make sense of the data), (5) computers able to crunch the amount of data available. But now, Darwin, your prediction has come true. Well done.
