My Year of Darwin 9/22/2014: J.D. Hooker craps out the idea of static species

 Charles Darwin

"You cannot imagine how pleased I am that the notion of Natural Selection has acted as a purgative on your bowels of immutability"  Charles Darwin, Letter to J.D. Hooker, July 1858

I needed this. Washed a blue blanket in the wash this morning and ruined a load of laundry. Both the wife and daughter lost pants and there was lots of anger and some crying. Geesh. Still haven't been able to solve a coding problem. Stress. And came across an old dude having sex with a prostitute on the levee. Awesome.

Getting back to the quote - it is remarkable to convince anyone of anything so this remarkable that Darwin was able to elicit such a strong response by well-known biologist.
