My Year of Darwin 11/15/2014: Explaining imperfection

 Charles Darwin

"He who believes that each being has been created as we now see it, must occasionally felt surprise when he has met with an animal having habits and structure not at all in agreement. What can be plainer that that the webbed feet of ducks and geese are formed for swimming: yet there are upland geese with webbed feet which rare or never go near the water; and no one except Audubon has seen the frigate-bird, what has all its four toes webbed, alight on the surface of the sea." Charles Darwin, Origin of Species 1st edition (on Kindle)

Perfect could be seen as the work of a creator (but I wonder what standard perfection is measured) but how are structures that are so useful in one context explained when they are taken out of that context?

Cliff Swallow nest found last night in Blakeslee, PA on the side of the CVS. The rest were powerwashed off (Boooo)
