My Year of Darwin 10/1/2014: Invasive species in Origin

 Charles Darwin

"Let it be remembered how powerful the influence of a single introduced tree or mammal has been shown to be." Charles Darwin, Origin of Species 2nd edition

Darwin had made some remarkable observations on invasive species in his early 20s while on the Beagle. This, apparently made a strong impression on Darwin. The effect has been documented over and over for the 150 years since Origins.

And if the introduction of species is important, what does it say about extinctions?
