My Year of Darwin 10/22/2014: Uniformitarianism comes shining through

 Charles Darwin

"What applies to one animal will apply throughout all time to all animals-that is, if they vary-for otherwise natural selection can do nothing. So it will be with plants." Charles Darwin, Origin of Species 1st edition (on Kindle)

Uniformitarianism is the scientific tenet that laws are constant in time and space. This is a prime example of Darwin applying that rule to organisms.
